PAG 12. HOW TO COMBINE NECKLACES: IDEAS AND TRENDS

Necklaces are the perfect complement to give a touch of personality to any outfit. Surely you have heard of "Layering", the technique that consists of layering necklaces to achieve a spectacular effect. In this post, we show you how to achieve it and many other ideas and fashion trends to combine necklaces and get the most out of your favorite jewelry. Let's start!

Ideas and trends for this spring-summer in combinations of necklaces.

1. Layering basic rule

A basic rule of Layering is to divide the neck into three parts: the part closest to the neck, the middle part and the part closest to the neckline. Depending on the number of necklaces you want to combine, you must choose a type of pendant for each area. For example, you can select to wear three necklaces, one in each zone.

For the area closest to the neck, we recommend a choker, which you can adjust so that it is closer to the neck or a little looser. In the middle zone, opt for a chain or pendant with a length of about 35-40 cm. Finally, for the part closest to the neckline, you can opt for a third pendant or a long chain (exceeding 40 cm to avoid joining the previous necklace). This basic rule of Layering will help you create harmonious and balanced combinations of necklaces. Keep reading to discover more ideas and trends to combine necklaces!

2. Choose a theme

One way to generate a coherent combination is to choose a theme or style that inspires us. It can be something related to nature, geometry, minimalism, or anything that catches our attention. From there, we can search for necklaces that meet that requirement and that complement each other. For example, we can make a combination with necklaces that have moon or sun motifs, or opt for necklaces with geometric shapes (triangles, circles, etc.) for a more modern and minimalist style. Choosing a theme will help us discard necklaces that do not fit the combination and select those that do, thus creating a harmonious combination with a clear common thread.

3. Play with materials

The third point is to play with the materials of our jewelry. Choose necklaces with stones, minerals, or zircons to generate a harmonic combination given the first rule of Layering. In other words, select a necklace for each area of the neck thinking about building harmony and balance.

For example, if we want to create a combination with white and gold tones, we can opt for the Arielle capsule jewels. In this case, we would start with a pearl pendant, followed by a basic chain, then another pearl pendant and, finally, a longer pendant. In this way, we make sure that the tones of the combination seek that harmony and, in turn, we take care of the composition of the combination so that it looks balanced.

You can also go a step further, by combining two different materials that have harmonic tones. In this case, we recommend mix pearls with zircons, one of our favorite jewelry trends for this spring. You can do it by choosing jewels that already have that combination, for example, the Perlas Inicial necklace, or by combining a necklace with zircons with another with pearls. These two materials can also be worn with the Moonstone, as it also has a light tone.

4. V-neckline

V-necklines are very flattering and are a common choice for dresses and tops. However, they can be a bit trickier to pair with necklaces. One option is to choose chokers and let the V neckline be the protagonist, but if you want to add a necklace, there are some options that can work very well.

One option is to pick a necklace that follows the line of the V-neckline, that has a similar shape. For this option, we recommend avoiding chains, as they tend to create a more rounded shape, and opting for pendants to create the same V as your neckline. Another option is to select a necklace that contrasts with the neckline, such as a necklace with a long, thin chain that falls in the center of the neckline. In this case, we recommend the Drop Night necklace, with a fine chain that dangles with a zircon. If you want to add more than one necklace, make sure each one is a different length, so they don't compete with each other (remember rule 1 of layering). You can also opt for necklaces with small, dainty pendants that complement your neckline rather than overwhelm it. Remember, the goal is to make a balanced and harmonious combination.

5. The protagonist

This point consists of using a necklace as the protagonist of our combination. This means that we select a necklace that we love and from there, we create the surrounding combination. We can choose other necklaces that complement and enhance the beauty of the main necklace, but this will be the center of attention.

For example, if we have a necklace with a statement pendant or a thick gold chain that we love, we can use it as a starting point and create a combination around it. To complement it, we can add simpler and more delicate necklaces to make a balanced combination. At this point, remember to use the first rule. To do this, we recommend that you detect the area in which the main necklace is located to look for necklaces that complement it in the other areas.

We leave you an example of how we create a combination from the Groovy Moonstone necklace (left) or from the Marli necklace (right).
