PAG 2. YOUR PLACE

Think of a nice place, a place that makes you feel good, close your eyes, and imagine yourself there. It's nice, right?

Now think of a small, dark place with a lot of noise and the same, close your eyes and imagine yourself there. Do the sensations in your body change? Does it connect you to other types of emotions?

With this little exercise, we can see how important the surrounding space is. Many times, we disconnect from the body to make it easier to adapt to the environment in which 'we have to be' but all those sensations are there and affect us consciously.

Therefore, beyond raising awareness of how the spaces where you spend more time in your day-to-day make you feel and that you modify what is necessary to make it a more pleasant space for you, we believe that it is essential to have a safe space. A space of peace, a space of your own, where you can retire to read, write, think, cry, or laugh, where you can disconnect from the noise to connect with yourself. Your safe place, free from judgments.

We have teamed up with the Calma House team, a textile brand that has always been present in our homes in the form of cushions, blankets, poufs, and bedspreads to create our place to unwind and share it with you.

How to create your safe place?

The first thing you must do is choose the space in the house where you are most comfortable “energetically”, that is, where you usually spend the most time: bedroom, dining room, kitchen, terrace, study, etc.

At the same time, think about what elements give you inner peace: light tones, color, plants, linen materials, paintings, etc. You can use Pinterest to inspire you, we share our board here.

Once clear, analyze the space you have selected, what do you like about what is already there? That bothers you? What is missing? Start making small changes: change the light bulb to a warmer tone, paint the furniture in a lighter/dark tone, look for a painting that gives it color, add a blanket for evenings on the sofa, some colored cushions, buy a nice cup for your morning coffees or your evening infusions, etc.

We were clear that we wanted a place to relax, where we could have a tea, read, write or think. And for this reason, we chose to make an interior chill out corner. Our preferred materials: jute, cotton and linen. Light tones and earth tones. Wood is always present, and preferably a dark wood to contrast with the rest of the light elements.

And this has been our result, what do you think?

We share some of our favorite plans in our safe place:

1) Read a book. How many things we can discover in reading! Novels are magical, whatever their type, they bring us closer to an almost experience, I say almost, because your body doesn't experience it, but your mind is capable of visualizing every last detail. Has it never happened to you to feel that the characters in your novel become your friends? It's living a story through another character, and you decide what time and what story you want to live. A novel that I would recommend to you, one of my favorites, without a doubt, is 'A Thousand Splendid Suns' by Khaled Hosseini./p>

Reading about how our mind works, our body, about topics that interest us from the perspective of another person and/or an expert in the field, enriches us a lot, since it leads us to debate, question and expand our vision. One of the most enriching books I have read without a doubt this year is 'The Art of Living' by Erich Fromm.

And from woman to woman, I can't forget to recommend 'Red Moon' by Miranda Gray, it will help you understand and connect with your cycle.

2) Another way to get to know other people's points of view or experiences is through podcasts. We recommend 3 of the ones we have followed the most this year, let's see what you think!

- Reset with Liz Tran: Liz Tran is a therapist and coach for CEOs and founders. She closely relates the business world with personal growth and the spiritual world. Our perfect combination! In her podcast, she talks about the lessons she has learned along her path and how she has been healing and envisioning her future to own her life. (It's in English, she's from New York)

- Mi Latido de Más: Anne Igartiburu talks about development and self-knowledge to live in fullness and coherence and for this she collaborates with different specialists.

- Y lo que surja: Irene Nortes sits, as she says, 'at a bar table' and shares her vision of life with us in a very natural and close way, she tells us about her theories, ideas, situations, concerns, etc.

3) Music, how magical it is, how much sensitivity there is behind each song (whatever style it is). Spend some time looking for what music makes you vibrate and enjoy it.

We share one of our favorite lists for moments of relaxation and presence in music: “You are so loved” by CREU.

4) Connect with our jewels, with the value that each of them has and the reason we have chosen it. We spend time looking, trying on, combining and ordering our jewels (now in the new artisan ceramic jewelry boxes made by Carlos in Lanzarote!). From these moments the inspiration for future campaigns, collections, and designs is born.

5) To write, journaling, and now finally in our libreta “My Daily Ritual”. Capturing concerns, ideas or illusions, whatever happens that day. Take advantage of all the experiences lived to learn as much as possible from them and be able to share a little piece with you in this new space.

6) Meditate! A recent addition to our day-to-day life that has given us a lot in a very short time.

7) Or simply to be, without any action, resting, allowing everything we carry inside to peek out in silence and tranquility, listen to it and accept it. A description very similar to the action of meditating, but that will give us another page of journaling!
